Black History Month 2024: Reclaiming Narratives

News

|

This year's Black History Month theme, "Reclaiming Narratives", focuses on honouring the stories and legacies that have often been overlooked or untold. It’s a chance to spotlight the changemakers, creatives, and visionaries who have influenced social justice, the arts, business, politics, and more.

First celebrated in the UK in 1987, Black History Month is an important time to reflect on the past and to celebrate the contributions of Black communities that have shaped the UK. It provides an opportunity to educate people of all backgrounds about the vital role Black people have played in British history, while also encouraging dialogue about racial equality, social justice, and representation in today’s society.

Join the conversation, attend local events, and support initiatives that celebrate Black history and culture this October. Whether through learning, sharing stories, or participating in community events, Black History Month 2024 invites everyone to be part of this important celebration of heritage, resilience, and progress.
